Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialist?
An MFM specialist (perinatologist) is an OB-GYN with additional fellowship training in high-risk pregnancy. We care for mothers and babies when a pregnancy needs closer monitoring or advanced expertise than routine prenatal care provides.
Do I need a referral to be seen?
Many patients are referred by their OB-GYN, but you can also request a consultation directly through our website or by phone — our team will guide you on anything needed to get scheduled.
Will you replace my regular OB?
No — we work alongside your OB-GYN. Your OB continues your routine care while we handle the specialized monitoring, imaging, and consultation your pregnancy needs. Everything is coordinated back to your doctor.
What conditions do you treat?
Gestational diabetes, preeclampsia risk, twin and multiple pregnancies, genetic screening needs, advanced maternal age (35+), fetal anomalies, placenta previa, and preterm labor risk — among other high-risk conditions.
How soon can I be seen?
Same-week appointments are available. Submit the consultation form and our team will call you within one business hour during office hours to schedule.
What happens at my first visit?
A thorough review of your history, a detailed ultrasound if indicated, and a personalized care plan — explained clearly, with time for your questions. You'll leave knowing exactly what comes next.
Is being “high-risk” something to panic about?
No. “High-risk” simply means your pregnancy benefits from extra monitoring and specialized expertise. Most high-risk pregnancies, managed properly, result in healthy deliveries — early and consistent care is exactly how we get there.
Do you accept my insurance?
We work with most major insurance plans. Call us at (954) 947-4946 with your plan details and our staff will verify your coverage before your visit.
Is my age (35+) really a risk factor?
Pregnancy at 35 and older is very common and usually goes well — it simply carries a somewhat higher chance of certain complications, which is why closer monitoring is recommended. We tailor that monitoring to you.
Where are you located, and do you offer bilingual care?
We're in Pembroke Pines, serving Broward County and all of South Florida, with care available in English and Spanish.
